Another great turnout for this contest, with
19 fliers fronting up. We also had a great turnout of CD's, with David James,
Peter Williams and Kevin Botherway sharing the duties! DJ had the draw prepared
ahead of time and even set the course up on Friday so we could get straight into
flying on Saturday morning. What was even more impressive was that when the wind
got up, it was in the anticipated direction - no winch changes required!
The aforementioned wind picked up fairly
early on Saturday and the lift was mainly wave rather than genuine thermals.
Sunday was calm for most of the day resulting in more thermal type lift,
although it remained pretty light. The wind then picked up and the wave
conditions returned for the final duration round.
It was great to have Scott and Paul
Chisholm up from Christchurch for the contest, and also to see Keith Elliot make
a return to F3B on the Saturday.
Best speed time was 17.74 seconds by
Scott Chisholm, best distance 20 legs by Chris Kaiser.
