Report by Dave Larsen
For those that were not there, the field was a very soft 150mm layer of very
loose dirt (and fertiliser) on top of ....more dirt. The stalky bits are what's
left from the crop that had been recently harvested. Fortunately these stalks
were quite soft so weren't much of a problem to landing aircraft. We were lucky
to have packed up just before the rain came down on Sunday, this field would
have soon turned into a mud pool for sure!
The new f3b system worked really well (thanks Les) and certainly makes the
running of the contest much easier for all. The highlight of the weekend for me
was watching Rhys James fly a perfect 23 laps to take out his distance slot with
a well earned 1000 pointer.
